I sort of knew in the back of my head that there was a connection between Rachmaninov and Celine Dion. What I didn't realize and discovered this morning, is that it is a complete rip-off! Listen and judge for yourself

I love Rachmaninov. And I know very little about Celine Dion. But popstars ripping off classic composers - don't they all do it? I know that Sting did.
This is my favourite Rachmaninov
I had the distinct pleasure of singing it when I was in a choir a few decades ago now. The sound of the guys doing the double bass parts is just amazing - it makes your body vibrate. (The joy of being alto is that the basses were singing into the back of my head).
This is best when you hear it live - I don't think the recording systems do the low notes justice.

@fanseelamb and @CatherineTCJD LOL! That was not the reply I was expecting. To be fair though, Celine Dion just copied a rip-off, the original cover is by the 'famous' Eric Carmen
ETA: Also, kudos to both of you for not listening to crappy, sloppy music

My musical tastes run from the X-men (hard core punk) to DuranDuran, Plus the Beatles (all time fav), Stones, Who, Queen etc...
...And, I'm a classically trained musician - actually, a musical grand-daughter of Nadia Boulanger - she taught my teacher. LOL! I enjoy all "good music."
Hubster (classically trained as well, Pianist) Plays Rach very well ;D - he's got the hands for it! And Prokofiev - I love Prokofiev!
Especially:
....which Sting used here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AF1Rofcf...e=youtu.be
I think hubs just uploaded some stuff to his site: http://www.SteelBaroque.com - go click a few 'play' buttons and make his day. LOL!
Today, however, I'm enjoying the silence *sigh*

@CatherineTCJD - Your hubby's music is lovely, and so is your jewelry btw.
Myself, I'm mostly into alternative rock, singer/songwriter (contemporary folk), some punk, some pop, some reggae. But being Canadian I'm very aware of Celine Dion and have heard plenty of her music....quite shameful that I couldn't place that one right away.
Anyway, here. Have some Canadian Reggae:

I didn't realise you were Canadian Fansee! Some of my favourite music comes from Canada... but it's not that mainstream I suspect.
One of my favourite Canadian Bands, singing one of my favourite songs to be miserable by.

Oooo, @fanseelamb - I like it
thanks!
@celebkiriedhel - that's a bit to 'country' for my tastes... the steel guitar sound makes my shoulders tense and the hairs on the back of my neck crawl.... sorry, I'm sure it's a great song though
When I think of Canadian music I think of KD Lang
...of 'course with a touch of Disney. I live and breathe Disney. LOL!
Speaking of which - these guys play at the Canadian pavillion at EPCOT - they are awesome!
