I had to do that for my Firefox with the last update too.

Kiri, just FYI that isn't the newest one, I think you're still running 29.0. To get the menu bar back in 29.0.1, you instead (left) click on the icon with the three horizontal bars in the top-right corner (seen in my screenshot), choose "customise" at the bottom of the drop-down menu, and then "show/hide toolbars" in the next window. (I can't launch Photoshop right now, but I'd be happy to provide screenshots later if needed.

Nix it is similar to that, but there is no left buttons except for the back arrow and I managed to get tools, bookmarks and such back yesterday. Although I don't see that on yours either. If this is the new interface it's horrid. I hardly ever do updates of any kind as I usually find them worse then what I had before and this is no exception. I must have spent two hours going on a wild gooses chase looking for a browser hijacker. I've had one before which took half a day to remove so I reacted as soon as I saw the FF button had gone.
Kiri I think it's just the FF update as it looks similar to what Nix has posted. Ugg, can I throw tomatoes at it? Or better yet rotten mangoes.
I have the file, edit, history, bookmarks, tools and help back on a pale strip at the top left after fiddling with it yesterday. I don't like it as you can tell so i may see if i can roll it back, I must have skipped the one you are showing, I skip a lot.
No navigation bar to click on.

Edited because you edited yours while I edited mine.
And yes, that pale strip is what the tool bar looks like now. I'm not at all keen on this new interface, either, it takes some getting used to.
Why can't they just let things look and work like before?!

Nix - I did that for my friend back in 29.0 however it works for 29.0.1 (which is what I have) as well. Sorry about the confusion - I didn't update the graphic, because it was the same thing. I should have mentioned it.

Jo those buttons on the left can be added and removed as you choose -
With the right click menu - You've got 'Move to Menu' and 'Remove from Toolbar' options. which you can do to take out those icons.
Also 'customise...' which will bring up that menu that also comes up from the side where the 3 lines are.
If you don't have that icon at the far right - then I suspect your update was a bit wonky for some reason.
What add-ons do you have? I'm just wondering if any of them could have interfered?

The Move to menu is greyed out, customize I don't understand at all. I'm very technically challenged. :/ Which icon to the far right? My antivirus and my add blocker is to the far right. My add blocker had gone as I noticed adds showing up and I had to download and get that back yesterday. Nearly every FF update I've ever put on has been messed up in some way. I've reinstalled it at least 3 times since I first started using it a few years ago. Also my antivirus was disabled under extensions.

The icon to the far right is the 3 lines.
yup. That sounds stuffed.
Looking at google about it I find there's a few that are having problems with greyed out menus on Firefox 29, so it's not just you.
The simplest way to use customise is to drag and drop.
The things in the middle of the customise page are objects you can put next to your address bar. What you can do is just drag them to the menu bar and drop them. Then exit customise down at the bottom and you're done.
So things like new window, history are the things from your menu at the top - which you can put next to your address line so you don't have to go into the menu all the time.
When you click on them normally, they'll do the thing.
So for example - the one that looks like a house is 'Home'. If you drag the house to the address bar, it will allow you to go back to your homepage just by clicking on it.

I do have the 3 lines. Thanks, that explanation did make sense. I don't have one that looks like a house though.. hmm. Hubby says our tech friend is coming over tomorrow morning so he should be able to fix things up. He may possibly be bringing some RAM -if he has the right type at home. Hope so. ![Big Grin Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.png)
Okay, found the home icon, it was already on the bar over to the right. I reset it yesterday and must have put itself there as I didn't drag it. Wouldn't even occur to me to try lol.
I went searching if there was a way to roll it back and stumbled on a FF board where some others were complaining and being given company pasted lines- gah I really hate those. But one did link to something called Classic Theme restorer https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox...erestorer/ It still doesn't look great, but it's given me an orange drop down menu on the top left which is a big improvement so I thought I'd post a link if anyone else wants it.
