@PlayStar201 - The black shadows are most likely the same issue explained in the first post of this Sims 2 and Graphics Cards thread. Try the easy fix of turning your "shadows" setting to medium in the game options and see if that gets rid of the black boxes.

So , i´ve tried the Graphics Rules Fix for NVIDIA with the Sim Shadows turned off , added my Graphics Card to the Video Cards Database with help of Graphics Rules Maker and the Shadows ingame disappeared , but in some seconds , maybe 10 - 20 , the game crashes! I lost so much hope right now and i really want to play Sims 2!
PS: Im using the Ultimate Collection from Origin and my Graphics Cards Memory is 2 GB and the easy fix didnt work , the shadows were still there , turning the shadows off ingame didnt work either!

I looked through the forum posts and found this , will removing Securom solve my crashing problem?

At least this was a solution for me! I want to put it out there though for anyone else who might have been having the same issue!
If I'm not supposed to post this information here I apologize and feel free to delete my post.
I had to completely remove Securom from my computer and use a No-CD .exe to run the game and it runs absolutely perfectly!
I can't believe it I'm so happy!

@PlayStar201, it has been known to happen. Crashes as a result of SecuROM on your system are not unheard-of. This is not a guarantee that it will be the solution in your specific case, but it *might* be. You do NOT want SecuROM on your machine, believe me!

Sorry I haven't been able to help people. I'm still struggling with depression at the moment and so have a fuzzy brain.
BO and Fansee have been giving excellent help.
And for those who feel a little tentative about posting help here- Please do!! It's a community effort and every piece of information gleaned is worthwhile.

Hello kiri!!!
I hope you are well.
As she said, I will provide solutions to some of the most common problems:
1- Resolution: The game only run at low resolution?, here's the solution: http://simsvip.com/2014/07/20/the-sims-2...ion-guide/
2- Neighborhood textures: The terrain and water in his neighborhood are awful?, here's the solution: http://modthesims.info/t/479610
3- Smooth edges: Smooth edges option is not enabled in your game?, here's the solution: http://modthesims.info/t/503576
I hope these solutions are helpful for your games.
Greetings to all!

Rather than go these threads which use a nuclear bomb when a hammer would do - Go to this thread

And follow the directions there.

Thank you ZeusSims!
I will try this in a little bit, when I have some time and post back the results!
But just to be sure, the fix you posted will work with my graphics card, right? If I accidentally 'wear' my new computer out trying to play a game my Hubby will not be a happy camper... LOL
Will this also take care of the flickering/wavering, or do I need a different fix for that?
