SimPE get GUID

Hi,
I'm new to modding and I'm following a tutorial requiring me to get a GUID. When I try to register through SimPE, I get an error saying: "The underlying connection was closed: could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel." I've looked this up and it seems to have been a problem for a long time, but the general advice is to sign up on the website...which is now down, seemingly permanently (503 Service Unavailable). So I can't do that. I've also tried Quaxi's fix which is a replacement dll but that doesn't work either.
What can I do? I'd really appreciate some help.

You really should log your guids on the thread at MTS - that way there is less of a possibility of duplicate guids being used.
Duplicate guids would be bad.
Duplicate guids would be bad.
