Hi,
I've tried to install The Sims 2 on my netbook and it doesn't start appropriately.
I mean, the game starts and it works, but i cannot see anything at all except coloured shapes and stripes.
I tried to replace Graphics Rules.sgr, nothing changed. Sad
The netbook's model is Asus EEEpc X101CH, Windows XP.
Graphic driver was released in 2012, and i'm afraid it is the last version of it.
Can the graphic card be to old for this game? Or too new? Or too weak?
It is said in log "<<NOT FOUND IN DATABASE!>>"
Waiting is totally fine for me too! My problem is not urgent. Thank you!

Mine says the same thing.

My game works fine for a while but then crashes, i've only managed to play ts2 once on win7 without it crashing.

Hi, thank you so much for making this! I'm new here, so I don't really know how this works, but I just tried your method for the graphics cards fix and it worked perfectly. I was just wondering, when I install new expansion packs I ordered online (Im missing seasons, university, and apartment life) do I move the graphics card files I unzipped into the two program file folders to the latest expansion pack or just keep them where they are and continue to install the expansion packs? I would assume to move them to the latest pack I install, but I'm just making sure. Thank you so much!

@mmaadddii
Rather than move them, take a copy of them to install them into the latest expansion pack.

Just to be sure, latest here means the latest EP that was released by EA, which is the disc you use when you run the game Smile

Yup - good point Klaartje.

The order goes

Base
Uni
Night Life
Open for Business
Pets
Seasons
Bon Voyage
Free Time
Apartment Life
Mansions and Garden Stuff.

However if you install Ultimate Collection it goes in
\Origin Games\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSData\Res\Config\

TS2 looked pretty awesome on my ATI 4550 HD, and the fact that sims won't get shadows anymore is a huge bummer for me.
Any chance we could report the issue to AMD/Nvidia so they can fix it or something on their next driver update?

@ilovecookiez11
You are of course able to report the problem to AMD/Nvidia - go for it and let us know how you go

I have tried your fixes, and they seem to partially work... I have a micro tower, with an Intel HD 4600, and while I was able to get the game to 1920x1080 using Graphics Rules Maker.. I cannot for the absolute life of me get the Smooth Edges scroller to appear ungrayed, and the Shadows to become ungrayed. To make matters worse, I have severe graphic flickering on buildings that I cannot get to go away... It's driving me bonkers... I was hoping you could give me some help with this..

Flickering has been fixed, and I disabled shadows just for sims only.. had to dive into the GraphicsRules.sgr and studied it for a bit, found the settings and edited it.. Everything looks great except the shadows, which I'm sure I can find a fix for later.. so I temporarily disabled them. If you could do me a favor and point me in the direction of the shadows that are below sims indoors, then I can fix it to match the settings that it has for outdoors, since those work...

System Info..

Windows 8.1 Pro
Intel Core i5-4570T @ 2.90Ghz
8GB Ram
Intel HD 4600

The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection - Origin

I will include my config-log.txt as an attachment.
