Recognising Newer Graphics Cards for Sims2

Hi Lythsim,

The CC issue is different to the graphics issue. We'll deal with the CC issue last. First up - lets fix the graphics issues.

From the look of your config log - there's a few things...

1. Have you updated your video cards.sgr? There's a spelling mistake in the card - and that's going to be confusing the game -
Name (driver): AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series <-- this is what the driver is called
Name (database): AMD Radeon HD 67800 Series <-- this is what it is from the Video Card.sgr

2. I'm going to need to see your graphics rules.sgr and the changes you made.
You have
boolProp simpleTerrain true

Which would suggest that your change hasn't quite done what it should. So it's not properly set to Hi-Res, Hi-Texture.

So please parcel up your Video Cards.sgr and Graphic Rules.sgr for me to have a look.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my stuff! I ended up figuring out the CC on my own. I also fixed the spelling error in the video cards.sgr before sending it over. The water is not a huge deal (I haven't seen it on an actual lot yet), but the black squares really freak me. I have some weird fear of graphical issues (which makes 3d modeling extremely difficult for me, quite unfortunate) and it extends to wigging me out bad on strange graphical errors in games, otherwise it really would not be a big deal to me.

Edit: The correct spelling fixed the water, but the black under sims is still there.

The terrain is wrong as well. I will set up a Graphic Rules.sgr for you.

black under sims - aha - the sims shadow

I figured that was what it was. But I couldn't play because I can't handle looking at it, haha. I made it to the first night and couldn't deal with it anymore.

Yea, I edited a line in the video thing so the sims have no ground shadow at all - its that or roll back the drivers.
