OK there's nothing in your folder that is conflicting.

I'm going to give you a different set of graphic rules and video cards.sgr to try out first, because there is a difference between Windows 7 and Windows 8 - Windows 7 doesn't have the Sims Shadow problem.

Download Graphic Rules for 6800 and Win7

So pop that into the same folder for the time being. Open up the game. Close it up again - and then check the config-log.txt for the word "Kiri' and let me know if it appears.

I want to cross off the device id as a problem here first.

I'm not expecting that to fix it, but we need to do that to rule it out. Then I have something else I want you to do after that.

Oh Lee! I completely forgot about that! I may put it back in again - depending on what's happening with WickerBag's game.

Nope, there was no "Kiri" in the logfile.

Let me know if you need me to do anything else.

Yup I do. Big Grin

I want you to take those 2 files - and put it in your Config and CSConfig folders in your Double Deluxe pack folder. And run it again. And check again.

What we're going to do, is work out by elimination which folder it's actually using the graphic rules from.

It worked!!! Kiri, you're amazing! My Sims are back in their high resolution beauty! Celebrate

Apparently Double Deluxe has not just one, but three different TSData folders. One in EP2, another in SP4 and another in Base. I hadn't even noticed the ones in SP4 and Base before today.

I first put the files in C:\Programs\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Double Deluxe\EP2\TSData\Res\Config and nothing happened. Then on a hunch I clicked around and found the other TSData folders and put the files in C:\Programs\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Double Deluxe\SP4\TSData\Res\Config, and it worked like a charm. I have the choice between half a dozen different resolutions again. I can't change the refresh rate anymore (the only option is now 60, previously there was the option of 56 and 75 too), but 60 is the refresh rate I normally used anyway, so I don't care Big Grin

Afterwards I noticed that I had once again forgotten to put them in CSConfig, so I did that too (though just in SP4's CSConfig folder). Here is the logfile:
.txt  config-log4.txt (Size: 9.83 KB / Downloads: 562)

Oh by the way, these are the files you had given me yesterday. If you want me to see what happens if I use the other files (the ones from the older thread) or put them in a different folder (like Base), let me know. I haven't noticed any shadow problems, though.

Thanks again so much!

Yay! Great WickerBag - That's perfect. I will include this new information in the first post so we don't get tricked out. Use these ones, rather than the older ones - they're set for you.

Hi i was wondering if anyone could help me... While on a beach lot, I can see the 'waves' coming and going but the actual sea is not there -- just a pit of emptiness. I've messed with my graphic rules already to allow a better resolution, the shadow fix for sims while on high setting, and also to fix the 'simple terrain' issue during neighborhood view.... but have yet to find a fix for the beach view.... Not sure if you can fix this specific problem, but I'd appreciate any sort of fixes specific to my pc...

Windows 8 BTW and here's info from config-log:

@kitkatvenus Is that Win7 or Vista ? Can you also add the log file? You can find the info Kiri needs to help you in the first two posts of this topic.

  2. Your operating System.
  3. What the problem actually is - that will be a picture to show the problem (optional), and accompanying text files that turn up (optional), and a detailed description of what happened, and what you expected to happen.

Sorry, that is a members only option
