				Hi Kiri,
Thanks for the response, turns out I was putting the fix in the wrong folders! Copied them into the M&GS install and everything is working perfectly now.
Had to edit the high resolution section to go up to 1920x1080 as it was stuck at 1600x900, but I can remember doing that with my old Geforce 8800GTS so that was easy to fix.
Thanks again for all your help, really appreciate it and my wife will be happy she can play The Sims 2 properly again!
Thanks again Kiri!

Well I tried what you said but it didn't work for me... It's weird and confusing because everything seems to be ok and sometimes i can see textures on High but after some seconds they turn to low despite having them on high... This card should be powerful enough to run the game on high... any ideas? I have no one!

Alex, I've done an internet crawl to see if I could find anything similar. And I haven't.
The changing of quality in-game suggests that there is a problem somewhere. The graphic rules.sgr gets used at the beginning of the game to set the quality, but doesn't change from then. The one that changes in-game is the userprops.xml in \My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Config\userProps.xml
I had a look at that - and while those values do include some resolution (anti-aliasing, shadows, etc) - it's actually changed when you select different options from the graphics menu. So I don't think it's that either.
That leads me to believe that it can either be two things - either there is a problem with the game - which I don't know how to fix, or there is a problem with the graphics card - which I don't know how to fix.
So OK. It's guessing time.
1. My first guess, is maybe the amount of texture memory being allocated is a problem. Try changing 1744Mb down to 640Mb in the graphic rules.sgr as an experiment and see if that does anything. If it does, can you post up some pictures and the -config-log.txt so I can see what its done.
2. Second Guess - is that there is a problem with the graphics card - and updating the driver may help.

I put 640 here where the text says: # Kiri - manually setting texture memory
seti textureMemory 1744 (changed to 640) Is this the place to change the number? Or there are more?
I tried what you said Leefish but I do not see any changes (I'll play with RADEON options more in order to see if something changes there), textures high but after moving the mouse for a short time they become medium/low again... This is the strangest issue Ive ever had with the game

Yes - that's the single place in the file, and the file is in 2 folders.
You need to change the graphic rules.sgr in both the config folder and the csconfig folder.
It is completely strange - and not a problem I've ever seen before.

I'm stuck already. Behind my chip type is no hex number. There's just a name. I'm getting rather desperate because those ugly looking rivers are getting on my nerves... Help me, please!
Here's a screenshot of my adapter tab, it's in Dutch but I'm sure you can compare it to an English one...

If you post up your xxxx-config-log.txt that you can find in \My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Log\ (where xxxx = your computer name)
That will tell me what your problem is. My guess is that it's the texture memory.
Also - you're using an Intel HD Graphics card - that's notorious for low resolution, so there may not be much I can do.
We worked out a while ago that we didn't need the id for the card, and could leave the video cards.sgr alone because it didn't really affect things.
