Recognising Newer Graphics Cards for Sims2
#351 08-02-2014
OK Catherine. That's definitely CC issues. I've looked at your config log, and it's pretty much doing it all it can.

The grass/coastline looks like you're getting about the best you're going to get with your card. I'm sorry we can't make it better. Any more improvements will need tweaks in directx and/or the graphics card drivers - and I'm not knowledgeable about that.

And yeah, I think we need to separate the CC issue into a separate thread.

In the meantime - there is a text file in your log folder called CustomContentObjects.txt, please attach this for me.

Yeah - I have this file that has lots of entries, but I went and had a look in my current challenge game and it has none as well. Then I thought, ok it's just because that's got no hacks in it, so I went to my create game - and it's got none as well.

Yet my play game has a huge long list.

I have NO idea what makes it list or not.

I wonder if it's going into the enabled/disabled CC dialog in the set up game that does it?

Hi, I hope you don't mind me coming in and begging for help, but I've been browsing back and forth in this thread ever since I got my new PC and although I've managed to get some things working, I'm still having problems and I admit defeat. I managed to get shadows and smooth edges and everything looks nice on a nice, big screen resolution, but on several occasions my game has suddenly gone bright pink and crashed and I can't work out why. I'm using an AMD Radeon HD 7700 card, which I'm pretty sure I've seen fixes for here, am I able to just download the files you've uploaded for other people, or should I upload my config file just in case there's something else going on?

Hi Sushigal.

I never mind people asking for help, the more the merrier! Smile

Definitely upload your config file so we can make sure it's nothing unexpected, but I suspect that you can use the updated graphics rules that's been here as well.

Here is card fix for this - Download Radeon 7700 graphics rules
