Nama - OK. That one has the right trace in it. Does that one flicker? That has everything that can be turned off, turned off.

That still flickers. D:

I turned off all CC even to see if that would make a difference, and it didn't.

I wanna cry now...

ok - I'm going to start looking for unusual non-sims related solutions. Windows 8 doesn't have an XP mode, but it might have something else that we can do.

OK. Stick with that card for the moment.

Using my Google-fu - 'flickering games windows 8' - still working through it.

But one simple thing jumped out at me with this comment -
"I recently updated to Windows 8.1 and now my screen flickers when playing in fullscreen mode. In windowed mode it does not flicker. "

Have you tried Windowed mode? (Do you know how to do windowed mode?)

Okay. <3 I've been trying to look up solutions myself and have been going around in circles, lol.

Try the windowed mode first. There's a lot of technical stuff, and it looks like a lot of it is unresolved.

Thanks Alfo - could you put the cards in the Life with Friends folders -

C:\Program Files (x86)\The Sims 2 Life with Friends\Config\
C:\Program Files (x86)\The Sims 2 Life with Friends\CSConfig\

and you can use this card (which I really have to remember to link in the first post) - Download Radeon 6700-6800

1. Remember to backup your old cards first.
2. after you've put them into your folders, fire up your game and check - then close up the game and put up the config-log.txt for me to have a look at.

@Oeselian it looks like Windows 8.1 is a bit of a fail regarding graphics cards.

Newsflash to Microsoft: We don't all buy a new graphics card and bin all our games everytime you decide to update something....
