Yeah - it needs to be the first one - the other ones wouldn't fix the resolution because I purposely made your graphic rules lo-res to see if I could stop the flickering.

Nope, no resolution change with that one.

Looks like you may well be the exception that proves the rule namakyori.

Yeah, this game hates me.

Can't get it working properly on Win 8. Can't get it working properly on a VM with XP.

Universe wants me miserable though.

So I was thinking of odd solutions.

When I was trying to figure out what was wrong with the VM install, I noticed that I had two options for frame rate: 60 and 85.

I'm thinking...is there a way to force the game to do more than 60?

PS: I managed to get the actual updated drivers to my laptop installed. It was a nasty workaround so that my old Asus drivers didn't reinstall itself, but yeah.

Can you post up your config-log from the last one please?

Caught me too late, I'm in the process of uninstalling and reinstalling as a last-ditch effort to fix it on Win 8 since fixing it on VM might be more trouble than what it's worth. It probably won't be done before tomorrow morning, unless I stay up for another hour or so.

I can, however, grab the one from the VM...I think.

That config log tells me two things - 1 is that you have the texture memory problem, and 2 is that you are not picking up the graphic rules that I gave you - you're putting it in the wrong place.

When you are uninstalling/reinstalling - are you doing all the expansions, or doing the all-in-one? If you're doing it in the all-in-one you HAVE to put it in the folder that has the highest EP number AND you need to check to make sure that you're putting it in all the folders necessary.

Otherwise it's not going to be working for you.

Also - it's not identifying the graphics card at all anyways - the graphics card is called 'VMware SVGA II' in your config file. So that may very well be your problem with the Pink hood.

You need to talk to Ekkii about getting the VM ware to identify your graphics card properly.

You don't want to force the frame rate to do more than 60 - the problem with flickering on the Windows 8 is that it doesn't do even 60 at the moment. Forcing it to do more won't solve anything.
Uninstalling and re-installing the game is fairly pointless because it's not the game that's the problem.

That config is from the VM install with the all-in-one.

I normally install one by one, but since I don't have the physical disks with me anymore (note to self: ask my mom to send that to me), I have downloaded copies on an external hard drive. I'm frustrated, lol. It was the last thing I wanted to do in case none of it works.

I'm going to bed soon, I'm giving myself a headache trying to figure it out, lol.

Edit: ...I think it's a fluke, but I decided to open my game today, on my Windows 8 system, and used the graphic rules that had all medium settings I think it was. It was one of the rules where I was able to use smooth edges. The flickering started, and then I flipped that switch. I'm going to put my config log here because there's something there that is a bit off (namely my ram, but it doesn't seem to have affected anything in the game, and maybe you can tell me what has changed; was it seriously a flip of a switch?! And I'm going to further test this, because if this was seriously the ONLY thing and I didn't think to flip a damn switch that I thought would've made the flickering worse, I'm going to cry.

And...omg I feel horrible because it was a Graphics Rules that was given to me a month ago.

Which switch are you talking about? The Config log looks fine. The texture memory is good (it's been changed).

You can ignore the RAM - it's not an accurate measure of your Ram - and the game doesn't use that figure anyway. I have 16G of Ram but still only get listed as 1024MB (which is 1 G).
