Hi Kiri!
So good news i did the shotgun approach of installing the config files that you provided for my graphics card to all of the expansion pack folders(because from what i could tell season is the last expantion pack that i have), and it works and the config is now showing your name, and subsequently the smoothness slider is enabled! But just so you know, here's the packs that i have, sims 2 deluxe edition, pets, open for business, seasons and university. if i had to take a guess at the problem folder, it would be the stuff pack thats in double deluxe which had a folder name of "sp4"(encase if it does it last pack alphabetically).
At any rate thank you so much Kiri, to have made my day! if you have any questions or if you want me to verify that it is the sp4 folder is the only one that needs the configs, let me know!
Have a great day!
Jeff

Shotgun works for me. It's the Deluxe edition that is the one gives us trouble. But I'm all for leaving the configs in all the folders.
Glad to know it's sorted.

Hi Shadowpenn - I haven't forgotten about you. I've been a bit sick today and haven't had the brain-space to work on your problem.

Take your time otherwise it would just cause me to procrastinate when I should be busy packing Wink Also, I hope you feel better soon!

So is this now fixed?

That was EXACTLY my issue @FreedomSimmer. My fix was the most unlikely thing ever: turning smooth edges from less to more.

Are you able to change that option?

Thanks a lot for this!! I had a lot of trouble figuring this out on my new laptop, so all of this really saved me!! Big Grin

- I'm running the game on Windows 8 without compatibility, and it works fine... I had a bunch of trouble trying to run it in compatibility mode, so I just skipped that part, why exactly is that important?

Anyways, all is working now, so YAHI!! thanks again Big Grin

Hello people! I'm back again. Now that I'm using the laptop, I can finally do what Kiri had asked me to do in the previous thread that is now locked.
As stated before, I'll give brief information.
I'm using Windows 8.1 64-bit. And game runs nicely without compatibility mode, however, the actual problem seems to be in the fact that the game is incapable of recognizing the graphics I'm using.
I've purchased a new laptop - Acer Aspire E1-510, now I shall upload the config file (Graphic and video file available upon request), along with pictures of what is going on.

The problems are:
- Smooth edges = grayed out
- The screen flickers upon mouse movement, as if refreshing, regardless (build mode, neighborhood view, live mode)
- It gets worse in build mode as walls looked ripped and they kinda disappear, but they re-appear after few seconds (I shall upload the pictures)
- For some reason, game gets a bit slow when applying makeup to a sim. I don't think it's CC, cause it doesn't happen anywhere else, except in makeup section. o.O But that's not so buggy. xD

I do have to apologize in advance as I took the pictures with my phone, since Print Screen in Windows 8 can be evil. :c (And I'm new to Win 8, so...)

This is what happens when you build a wall or when you destroy a wall. But it gets fixed after few seconds. It can be truly annoying.

Just another glitch. >_<

A quick shot of graphic/performance options.

Thanks in advance. Smile

Hi Shinra - for Hi Graphics on an Intel - you need 3 things:
1. CPU >= 3000
2. Texture Memory > 32Mb
3. Not Integrated

Your CPU is 2986.199951Mhz so You have enough for Medium but not Hi.
Your Texture Memory is Great that's enough for Hi.
And I have a card that ignores the integrated requirement - because that was based on old Intel cards that were not up to scratch.

You need to use this card: Download Intel Nama Card

Then follow the instructions in the first post to install.

Put your anti-alias to maximum.

Then come back and let me know how you go.

Before you post requesting help
Information we need

  1. The -config-log.txt from the Logs folder in the My Documents\EA\The Sims2\ Click "full editor" below to attach a text file.
  2. Your operating System.
  3. What the problem actually is - that will be a picture to show the problem (optional), and accompanying text files that turn up (optional), and a detailed description of what happened, and what you expected to happen.

Sorry, that is a members only option
