So have you got all the EP's running? What do you think, what have you tried?
If EA are smart -haha did I just say that? But if they are, they will add toddlers in a patch or an EP and redeem themvels, because a sim game without toddlers is not a game I will be playing.

Eh, disappointing I guess. But not for me- by the time I get the game there WILL be toddlers, there WILL be pools and everyone else's toddlers will be all grown up with great-great-great-great-great grandkids. And they'll all be sitting around the pool, lol.

RANT: No toddlers. I cant quite believe it - and the hint that they might be added later is just - I can't believe they would go that low as to charge for a lifestage. Did they look to see what lifestage was popular with the older (read: has own money) gamer and deliberately remove it so they could sell it later?
RAVE: I am too sad to rave about anything.
And a quote from the launch notes of Sims2 for the attention of Ryan Vaughan:
There's a very fine line between sims doing something that's surprisingly clever and funny, and sims doing something that's completely unrealistic and not especially entertaining.

Yeah it's very depressing and I don't know if I want to bother with the base game now. Dh was going to buy it for my birthday, but I think it would be better to wait and see just when and how they plan to include toddlers. If they really think this will only upset a handful of people they must be living in lala land, surely they realize how PO's a majority will be by this? Don't they even realize generational play is the heart of the game? They could have left out young adults and I wouldn't have blinked, no reason why they can't be added later with a UNI EP, but how depressing to have a baby to only watch it grow to a kid. *sigh*

Count me in amongst the ones really f****** p***** off quite annoyed about this. Yes, I, too, read the info like there will be toddlers and pools at a later stage, so they'll most likely add them in an EP - and that EP will be $79.95, because it has an entirely new life stage! *eyeroll*
Then again, I saw a v. interesting thought over at Tumblr. On some Sim forums (where the crowd is in the 13-18 range), toddlers are the least favourite/most hated life stage, along with elders... so what if they've taken out toddlers because they actually think that's what the majority of the customer base wants? And then they'll add them back in with an EP, so the tiny minority who wants them (read that: adults. Because everybody knows adults don't play computer games ) can get them that way?
...or they're just doing this to be able to get more money from us. This is EA, after all.

I think they simply ran out of time and toddlers being a very different age stage need a lot of work, so to keep release date they decided to give them later. Now if they had been upfront sooner and actually talked to the fan base instead of hiding/hinting/lying, that would have helped. It would also help if they came out and said they plan to give toddlers in a patch as soon as possible, a patch free because for the price of the base game it should not only have toddlers but pools and fairy lights! Darn it, it should come with a foot massage as well!
I would be curious if a poll could show the ages of players who like and dislike toddlers and see if it toddlers are more disliked by the younger set. Even so, even if I did dislike toddlers (Seeing I started a thread on MTS last year called "what I love about toddlers" to counteract the most hated life stage thread... no one would believe that) I would still want them for the game because it's a life simulator. Life simulator, but with 8 years missing.

Jo, I agree, being upfront and saying "we won't be able to do this for the base game because of reasons, but we'll make sure you get it a.s.a.p." would have helped a lot. But this is EA; they care about their money first, and their customers... never. Giving us toddlers in a patch won't get them any money - but an EP will, so I'll bet you anything that's how they'll do it.

Yup, I don't believe for a second that they'll add toddlers in a free patch like they should. Toddlers are a rather basic part of a life simulator, and should therefore be in the base game (base game - that means all the basics, right? Right, EA?? Right?????) But they'll charge money for them in an EP because they can. And the pools will probably be added in a different EP, even though those are really freakin' basic for a Sims game too.
It really does sound like they ran out of time to finish the game. So instead of delaying they're gonna charge full price for a half-finished (maybe half broken) game, and then charge full price again and again for EPs that add back features which should have been in the game to begin with. That's what actually pisses me off. The toddlers themselves? I could play without 'em TBH. But it's the money-grubbing nature of what EA is doing - shipping an unfinished/broken product and charging top dollar - that I hate.
Personally I don't plan to shell out any money for this game until we have some actual feedback from real players, after release.
Erm, and @leefish - is there a bigger version of that comic somewhere? The one that pops up when I click your thumbnail is too small to read.

While I rarely play toddlers, or build pools for that matter, it's still crappy how they handled it all. I agree, they probably just ran out of time. They need to slow the eff down and make sure they are putting out quality product. They rushed a lot with TS3 expansions IMO, there should not be a need for so many freaking patches just to have a game that works right. But they will never "learn" because there are still so many who will just buy rushed borked stuff because "It's new sims stuff!" and all they truly care about is the money.
