I believe I have a problems with the graphics because everytime I go to create a family, it crashes. When I lower the lighting and things like that it lasts a lot longer without crashing, but it still does. I have the Intel HD Graphics 4000. The problem is, when I try to extract the fix WinRar says it can't do it because "it's corrupted" or something like that. When I go to "fix archive" it still says it can't do that. I've tried downloading different applications for rar files and it doesn't work on them either, so it isn't just the application. Do you have any ideas on what I could do to fix this? I've been working on trying to fix this game for hours.

Crystal I need your whole config-log.txt not just the top. could you please do it as a text attachment? Thanks.
If you press "Full editor" when you are replying, it will give you a box down the bottom that says 'Browse' click on that - that's how you attach the file to your post.
To know which one you need - I need to look at your config-log.txt
If the Texture Memory says 32Mb - then you need the one with the texture fix. If it is much greater than that, you need the other one.
I can download both those files, and open them successfully. Generally what that means is that your internet is not downloading them properly due to an intermittent connection from your isp. The recourse for that is to re-download the files. You are right - it's not your WinRar that is the problem. It's not the files that are the problem either. It's being corrupted when you download them.
Generally, the easiest way to deal with this - is (1) to re-download them. (2) if they persistently won't download properly, then send me a pm with your email address and I'll send you the files unzipped.

Just wanted to leave a note for you, celebkiriedhel, saying thank you for this post and all the information. (While I'd managed to piece together most of this from various sources, to the point that I answered a few Yahoo! questions pertaining to it, mostly for setting widescreen, I hadn't seen the black box shadow fix before.)

You're welcome Tamha.
Crystal - looking at your config - you don't need the texture fix. If you can pm me now? That would be grand.
What I do see from your config, is that you don't have the CPU for high res - and this is more than likely the reason you're getting the crashing. For Vista (NT5.1 and greater) the CPU levels are set as follows:
seti cpuLevelHigh 3000
seti cpuLevelMedium 2600
seti cpuLevelLow 2000
Your CPU level is 2514.399902Mhz which is almost but not quite Medium. So the problem is not so much your graphics card, as your computer doesn't have the grunt to run it in anything but lo-resolution. What I will do is make up a card for you which turns off most everything except anti-alias and see if that helps you. When you pm me, I'll send the new card to you.
Lee - thanks for that.
