Daniel

I've had a look at your config-log. If you've downloaded the graphic rules to use - then you've got it in the wrong place as it's not showing the trace in it to say that it's being used.

According to your config - you only have the base game? Is this correct?

Yes, I am unable to install other expansions due to not having patch? I must have missed the graphic rules? Sorry, if i were a sim, one of my traits would be clueless

Given that all of this is about the graphic rules, that would suggest that you haven't followed all the steps through, or you've had problems with doing them. So lets go back to the start.

Step 1 - We have the config-log.

Your config log tells me many things, these are from your config log, with my comments:

CPU: 3353Mhz, Name:GenuineIntel, FPU:1, MMX:1 <-- this tells me you have everything you need for Hi resolution, when it comes to CPU power.

=== Graphics device info ===
Number: 0
Name (driver): Intel® HD Graphics 4600 <--- this is your actual Graphics Card.
Name (database): Intel® HD Graphics 4000 <<NOT FOUND IN DATABASE!>> <-- this tells me that you have changed the Video Cards.sgr file incorrectly.
Vendor: Intel <--- this tells me you need the Intel fix.
Chipset: Vendor: 8086, Device: 0116, Board: c0e6144d, Chipset: 0009
Driver: aticfx32.dll, Version: 8.17.10.1247, GUID: D7B78E66-4226-11CF-2273-ECE0B7C2CC535
Driver version: 1247
Monitor: \\.\DISPLAY1
Monitor aspect: 1.778350, 16:9
Screen mode: 1920X1080X32BBP,60Hz
Texture memory: 4024MB <--- this tells me you don't need the texture memory fix.
HW T&L: Fixed function:1 Programmable:3.0
Pixel program: 3.0
Texture stages: 8
AppControlledAA: 1

What you need to do -

1. We need to fix your Video Cards.sgr
  • So first up you need the original video cards.sgr to replace the one you've messed up. Did you keep the original?
  • If yes, put that one back in. Leave the video card.sgr.
  • If no, then you need post up your amended video card.sgr so I can fix it.

That may be the source of your trouble with getting the game started. However we will do all of this one step at a time.

I just downloaded Intel Fix.

Downloading Intel Fix made the sims 2 open :-)

I had a look at Pleasantview and took a screenshot which I have added. I do not have the option to smoothen edges if the edges are incorrect.

Daniel, when I organised to meet with you, I had forgotten that today was my busy day and I won't be at home.
However what I have done is updated a Base game video cards.sgr to correct it for you.

Download it and un-zip it and put it in the same place as the graphic rules fix.

When you've done that, go into game and come back out - and give me a config-log.txt and we'll fix the other things.

It's alright, we all have busy days. How do I unzip it? What folder is the Graphic Rules Fix in? By Graphic Fix, do you mean the intel one? If yes, I have that in the downloads folder

@danielroxheaps in the downloads folder? It doesn't go in the downloads folder. Please re-read the first post of this thread.

Regarding unzipping, you can use a tool like WinRar (google it) and unzip the archive.
