Closed Sims 2 and Graphics Cards - the fixes.

2.MY operating System is WindXp running on an Intel with a Radeon X1300/X1550 Series (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM) for a grapichs card.
What the problem actually is that when i go to play Sims2 this erer apers. ( Failed to enumerate any DirectX 9 graphics adapters in this System!

Please make sure you have a DirectX 9 compATIBLE Graphics Adapter and have installed the latest manufacturer provided driver.

The application will now terinate.......

Pleaz help me out with this i have now ben trying to figger this out so i can play for a day and a hlaf i have uninstaled and re instald 3 times now i just what to play

i would be verry gratefull if you could help me out with this i just whant to build pleaz and thank you and i hope you have a super amzing fantastic wonderfull day.

Hi Illia,

Step 1:
Given that you are getting this error with reinstalling - you need to download the latest graphic drivers for your graphics card.
You can get that here from the AMD Site

Step 2:
Make sure that you have DirectX updated - Microsoft Site

Step 3:
Check that everything is good.

• Select your Start menu - there should be a thing that says 'run'
• type in dxdiag and press enter.
  It will bring up a dialog window. At the bottom there is a button that says 'save all information...'
• cllick on that button, and it will create a text file. Post that text file up here.
  
  See if your game starts.
• If it does post up the config log.
• If it doesn't let me know what message it gives, whether it is still the same as previously.

@IliaGirl - you are having trouble posting - you are probably using firefox and some sort of blocker. This is issue is related to you and your browser settings, it is NOT a site issue.

You need to tell me exactly what you're doing when you install your game.
Have you added anything?
Have you had the game working before?
What packs are your installing?
Are you using CC?

The DirectX is fine according to your DxDiag - so that is not the problem.
The error you are getting suggests that your graphic rules.sgr has errors. Are you using the one that came with the game?

I have a torrented game if I need to post the instructions to you I will but I followed them to a T. I have all the Exp&SP up to TS2 Mansion and garden stuff. I don't have any CC i can get the game launcher to run for about 1 minute but as soon as i tell it to continue running the script it crashes. The GraphicsRules.sgr that came with the download is the one I am using.

Don't run the game launcher - that's the thing that doesn't work.

• Go into program files and the Mansion and Gardens folder - then select the folder TSBin.
• In there are some .exe files. Double click on Sims2EP9.exe.
• Delete the Launcher - it no longer works since they closed down the sims site.
  

If this doesn't work - then your problem is that your game is a dodgy torrent version, and it won't work. You would be better off seeing if you can find a second-hand version to buy.

And given that it's a torrent - you should check your PC for malware that comes with the download.

Its a torrent. You need to either a) find a better one or b) buy the game (recommended).

First of all, thanks for your solutions to fixing the mind-numbing issues with the Intel graphics cards and the Sims 2. It certainly solved most of my problems when running with my laptop, the smoothed edges, shadows and the terrain whatnot. What's left apart from bulldozing through the pile of troubleshooting rubble is my big issue with bump maps (Call me OCD). No matter how many solutions I tried on the net and this thread of yours, I've never seem to be able to activate bump maps effectively. At most when using my bumped mapped clothes in create-a-sim, the bump map would only be visible on the outlines, or " the normals have been flipped at best" for a modellers term. Only when playing my sims does the bump map not show at all. Even the body shop does not show bump maps for me.

In short, I'm trying to figure out how to properly enable bump maps for sims clothing.

As you can see, I'm running the dual graphics card in a laptop problem, and the integrated graphics are a huge annoyance for me. Any help would be appreciated.
