Kiri, I forced the game to use Nvidia (seems I did have two). The smooth edgers is still grey but I think the flickering stopped.

Olivier - we can get it better than that. Dual cards can be a pain, but we can sort it.

Kiri, wanted to say thank you, and to all others helping, for doing this.
I tried to find my log to post the issue, however it's not in my config folder (I disabled hidden folders, still not there).
I found a few fixes that looked like they would be correct for my system, however I also couldn't find the M&G folder inside of fun with pets, is it possible I got an incomplete or damaged download when I downloaded from Origin?

I have Windows 8.1, Radeon R7 graphics, and my issue is the low screen resolution (only 800x600), and the black box shadows.

Your log is not in the config folder in the program files section of your folders.

In step 1 it says: Have a look at your config-log.txt in the log folder of your game (in the My Documents).

It's in the My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\log\
Or
My Documents\Origin Games\The Sims 2\log\ for ultimate collections (I suspect)

i.e. When you play - where your neighbourhood and downloads are kept. And they are in the Logs folder.


I don't have the ultimate collection - so I'm guessing about what's in the Fun with Pets folder. What's in your Fun with Pets folder?

The folder it needs to go in is
For the Ultimate collection - the folder selection is:
\Origin Games\Fun with Pets\...\TSData\Res\Config\
\Origin Games\Fun with Pets\...\TSData\Res\CsConfig\

Where ... is an expansion pack if it's got it, or just straight on to TSData\Res\Config if you don't.

The important thing is that you need to put it in the most recent game expansion folder. (as above)

I see that according to step one, there are already a few issues with my settings. Quite a few of my other expansion folders have the TSData/Res/Config, but the Fun With Pets only has "EP4", "SP1","SP9", and "Support".

Edit: Forgot to mention, inside of those subfolders is the TSData/Res.. etc, but I'm not sure which one to use.

Hi there this is the thing I've been looking for and thank you for sharing it ... I've done exactly how to do it but when I play the game in Nvidia High Processor it returns an error where it says "E_INVALIDARG" but if I chosse intergrated graphics it works just fine without any problems such as screen flickering or water that looks like bricks ... What should I do know ...

Edit : And yes I forgot my laptop which is a acer aspire E1-470g runs in windows 8.1 pro OS ...

I've followed the instructions on the main thread twice, including editing the graphics card to increase the resolution, but nothing is working. I've also noticed that my specific graphics card isn't on the Nvidia fix.

Here's my config log, and my native resolution is 1920 x 1080. I'm using Windows 8.1. Please help. The black box fix didn't work for me, either. Nothing is seeming to work or even be changed.
