Hey!

I created an account just to thankyou for posting this and for being helpful. I didn't realise the problem lied in the graphics rule but I downloaded and extracted the Intel Graphic Rule and now I've been able to load families without it crashing which wasn't possible before. It runs smoothly (never remember Sims 2 running this smoothly). I'm going to install my cc I've downloaded so far and I'll post an update on whether it works or not! Big Grin

EDIT: Still works with the cc!

Hello Kiri,
I've been searching all the internet for a fix for my issue, and i hope i will have the help I need here.
I'm having the flickering issue, I have tryied everything you listed here as possible solution but the "smooth edge" option is always gray.
This shitty integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 was supposed to run the game properly, I guess.
I've tryied the graphicsrulesmaker program, tryied changing the Graphic Rules.sgr codes (most likely not the right ones) and nothing
Sorry for the bad english, but i hope that you will understand what i said.
Thanks

@Kenzy Your CPU is below Low,
CPU: 1995Mhz, Name:GenuineIntel, FPU:1, MMX:1
The bottom line is your laptop is not strong enough to play Sims2 with anti-alias.

CPU values for Windows Vista and Above are:
Low - 2000
Med - 2600
High - 3000

You can have a fantastic graphics card, but if your CPU can't cope, then it can't cope.

I can set you up a card for low cpu with anti-alias - but that will only work if your Graphics card has a separate CPU. Which I'm not convinced that your graphics card: "Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family" does.

@Simmerfan28
If you rename your 'EA Games\The Sims 2' folder in your my documents area where you have your CC etc before you reinstall - then no.
But before you add anything back into the game - lets make it work first.

@xhanx please use the Graphic Rules maker, then set your smooth-edges to max. That will fix your flickering issues.

@KimberlyTanith
Where exactly did you put your video cards.sgr?
It should be something like
C:\Program Files x86\Origin Games\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSData\Res\Config\
and
C:\Program Files x86\Origin Games\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSData\Res\CSConfig\

The reason why I ask - is that it's not showing up as registered.
Name (driver): Intel® HD Graphics 4000
Name (database): Intel® HD Graphics 4000 <<NOT FOUND IN DATABASE!>> <-- that message should not be coming up if you've used the video cards in the right place.
Vendor: Intel
Chipset: Vendor: 8086, Device: 0166, Board: 909c104d, Chipset: 0009

I double-checked the card I gave you - and it's correct. So it should be picked up.

@thomazdittz
boolProp enumerateMultisampleLevels true <- your anti-alias is on. So the Graphic Rules Maker card did work. So you should be able to move the smooth edges.
can you give me a screen shot of what is happening in game? Thanks - the graphics page.

Just a thought - are you trying to change the smooth edges on a lot, or on a hood view.
