I mean what do you mean by "it will give me high settings", like will it unlock the graphics settings i dont have? Because all of my graphics settings are unlocked.

What do you expect from high settings? What makes you think your graphics are not set to high?

She said "Your CPU is under 3 MHZ so that puts it in the medium - Sims2 graphic rules doesn't recognise quad core. However there's a card for that on page 1 - Intel -Med CPU that will give you high settings." She said Med CPU that will give you high settings, does that mean it will make my game run well on high settings?

Define run well. You said all settings at high. Are you seeing lag? If your graphics have all options available then that is the scope of this topic.

@celebkiriedhel

I am very pleased to hear that it's not the graphics card/driver. That had me worried, but I do have a back-up graphics card should I have needed to do something about it.

As for your suggestions:

1) Could possibly be the issue, but that suggestion doesn't apply to Windows 64-bit it said.

I mean I do have a lot of CC and have been meaning to slash it. I have noticed that my game takes at least an hour to load when I have my entire folder installed (~20 GB), and when I reduce it to ~13 GB with only clothing, defaults and genetics, the load time is <10 min. So I definitely need to do some culling, but I don't think that it's the reason for the flashing purple. My system has 12 GB of RAM installed, although from what I know Sims can use only up to 4 GB since it's a 32-bit game.

2) Pretty sure this is the key. I have backed up my hood using SimPE and renamed the neighborhood in my documents. I began to play a vanilla hood with a new sim with limited CC, only defaults and genetics. I played with no issue. Then I added in my custom clothing (no default clothing though) and I am playing the hood now to see if the flashing purple occurs. I'm just adding in bits and pieces at a time.

3) Would this also apply even if I'm not playing Ultimate Collection and just disc installations?

Thank you for all the assistance. I will keep you posted on what I discover.

Well i am seeing little lag, only when I use ultra speed, but the more people in the lot the more lag on ultra speed, idk if thats the way it is cuz in all videos i see people playing the sim 2 when they click ultra speed they also lag soooo i think its the game, correct me if im wrong.

@smart_spell

1. It still might be worthwhile to try the first option - because your config said it was only using 1Gig, so it maybe that the graphic rules is confused - in which case, it won't change anything. But it's worth a try.
2. Yeah - a friend of mine had this problem, and had to ditch her hood and rebuild it with less CC - it's been a mammoth task, but she hasn't had any more flashing pink.
3. Yup - it applies to all games - corruption doesn't care what type of game you're using.

@Simmerfan28
That's correct - most people lag on lots with a lot of activity, and in high speed (Sims2 doesn't have Ultra Speed - that's Sims3)
The card with medCPU, will let you play your game on high-res, but it does remove a couple of big ticket CPU items, so the lag you're getting on those sort of things, is the lag everyone gets. Also the more CC you have in a game, the more it will lag as well.

@celebkiriedhel

I failed to mention that I did actually do the first option and the config now shows 4GB instead of 1GB. But I'm definitely going to be doing a full downloads overhaul. I mostly play a maxis-match game so my downloads folder object-wise mostly consists of recolors and furniture add-ons. I'm really bagging on this being a clothing issue though. *keeps fingers crossed*

Given that it's starting on clothing - I'm fairly confident that it's a clothing issue.

I'm sorry but I don't really understand some of the stuff you're saying, can you please explain to me what exactly the intelmedcpu thing do for my game in more detail (in other words, dumb it down), and is lagging on high speed really normal? Sorry I'm really stupid xD
