When you fixed your graphic rules - how did you fix it? The one from the front page will automatically set it to high settings.
As for whether your PC is physically capable - yeah it is.
I don't know about Sims 3 - it's a different bird, and I haven't had much with it. I'd try it out - but remember to get a FPS limiter to stop the graphics card from over-working.
This is the one that I use - http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/in...ic=15585.0 (2nd Post) the 3booter is not really needed because that bug may have been fixed - I don't use it. But the FPS limiter is DEFINITELY needed.
I have a bat file that deletes the caches, and runs the fps limiter automatically before it starts the game. To start the game, I use the Bat file.
This is what I've got in my .bat file:
del C:\Users\User\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\CASPartCache.package
del C:\Users\User\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\compositorCache.package
del C:\Users\User\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\scriptCache.package
del C:\Users\User\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\simCompositorCache.package
start C:\"0-SIMS3\FPS-Limiter\"FPS_Limiter.exe /r:D3D9 /f:30 /x:OFF /l:OFF "D:\EA3\00-TheSims3\Game\Bin\TS3W.exe
You'll need to change the start command to access where you have loaded your FPS limiter (the first one) and Where your game programs are stored. I have mine stored on a separate drive from my other programs which is an SSD.
Yours will probably be something like...
start C:\"Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\"FPS_Limiter.exe /r:D3D9 /f:30 /x:OFF /l:OFF "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\TS3W.exe
If you put the FPS Limiter in the same place as the game.
To make a bat file - just make a text file, then change the suffix to bat.

I used the RADEON Graphics Rules one, I did it the harder way, and as for the FPS Limiter, do I really need it? It seems like a lot of work to install it

I run my system without any FPS limiters, but then I'm not playing TS3 or TS4, either. It may depend on ones system, I suppose.
Also, let me add that running this new Graphics Rules Maker was a piece of cake. In fact, you don't need to know ANYTHING about computers or the game. Just select the highest resolution that the program allows you to select, and let it do its own thing. Ofcourse, I didn't really *need* to do this, because I had already set everything correctly myself. But it was a good exercise to find out what this program is all about.

Hi, I just log on to thank you for all that you has done here! I was so excited when after a lot of years finally had a new notebook, it came with Win8 and doble graphic card (Intel and Nvidia). The first thing that I do was install Sims 2 from Origin and when I open it and see all the graphic bugs I got mad xD Your explanations are very clear and you are so dedicated and kind
A lot of regards and thanks again!
PS: I had problems to log on because the captcha of complete the name, I'm latin american and in spanish Bella Goth is translated like Elvira Lápida, so I had no idea who was Bella.. lol! Btw, sorry if I made english mistakes

@Simmerfan28
For Sims 3 you absolutely need to install it - There is no limiter in the game, unlike Sims 2 and Sims 1 (and I hope Sims 4)
It will run your graphics card as hard as it can go. When Sims 3 first came out - it burned out quite a few graphics cards and computers. One of them was mine. So I am certain you need it. EA never fixed it in Sims 3.
How to use it:
1. Download it from the MATY thread.
2. In your EA folder in your games - C:\Program Files (x86)\ create a folder called FPS-limiter and put the zip in that folder. (NOTE: Because I've created a start bat for you it has to have that exact name and location - \Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\FPS-Limiter
3. Download this bat file - Sims3-start
4. Unzip it into your FPS-Limiter folder.
5. Make a shortcut of sims3-start.bat and put it on your desktop.
6. When starting up your game - use the shortcut on your desktop.
Reasons why it may not work...
1. Your FPS-Limiter folder isn't in the same location or is not named correctly - Case is important so FPS and L must be Upper case, and the rest must be lower case, and it must be a dash in between.
2. Your Electronic Arts folder isn't in C:\Program Files(x86) - if it isn't, go to where it is using file explorer - then right click on the address and choose 'copy address as text' - then post it up here for me, and I will make you a new bat file.
Once it's set up, it's no different than playing from the normal game shortcut.
@IjGranger You're welcome. Yeah - Bella Goth is ubiquitious but I totally get that it's different in other languages.

Thank you, @Klaartje and @celebkiriedhel , for explaining when and why the FPS Limiter is required. I would not want to give people the wrong idea, simply because *I* am not needing it
Before you post requesting help
