Hi,
I wrote here before, here is a link to my old request: http://www.leefish.nl/mybb/showthread.ph...0#pid32210

The game starts and it works, but i cannot see anything at all except coloured shapes and stripes.
I tried to replace Graphics Rules.sgr (file from GraphicsRules-INTEL-MedCPU.rar), nothing changed.
My netbook's model is Asus EEEpc X101CH, Windows XP SP3.
Graphic driver was released in 2012, and I'm afraid it is the last version of it.
It is said in log
"Name (database): Intel Corporation Atom™ N2000/D2000 Series Embedded Media and Graphics Driver <<NOT FOUND IN DATABASE!>>"

Could you please look at my log again? Thank you for your time.

@Rikka Hi Rikka - sorry I wasn't able to look at it before. I haven't been well. I'm doing a bit better now so am happy to look at it for you now.

You've got 3 problems with your machine to be able to run Sims 2.

1. Your CPU is 1596 MHz - that isn't medium CPU - that's low.
2. Your texture memory is 256Mb - that's low/med texture memory.
3. Your free memory is 840 Mb - that's ok for a vanilla game, but not ok with any CC - and it's putting strain on if you have the later expansions.
The reason why you're not able to get more than stripes and colours is that your machine isn't strong enough to run Sims 2, as far as I can see.

We can fix the video cards.sgr - but I doubt that will improve things much. Your netbook just isn't powerful enough.

For information of all - what I look for when I'm looking for CPU, and Memory is

CPU LEVELS

High 3000 MHz
Medium 2600 MHz
Low 2000 MHz

MEMORY Levels -
High 512 Mb
Medium 384 Mb
Low 256 Mb

They come from the graphic rules themselves, and you can see them in the code if you open it up and have a look.

Memory is defined as it was back in 2004-2008 as the minimum needed to run the game. So that's 512 Mb need to run the vanilla game on high definition. If you want to add CC to that you need to have more. Hence the reason why back in 2004 - 2008 we were very, very conscious about polys and how much CC we had.

Yeah, I suspected that it is too weak, even for Sims 2 (release date September, 2004 - how time flies...)
Now I'll show your answer to my husband and require a new laptop Smile
Thank you for your reply. Good luck to you!

Hi Kiri, I've found this thread very helpful in fixing my graphics issue, but of course I have one pestering problem. The smooth edges option is grayed out for me. There have been many posts regarding this, & none of them has solved it. I've tried using Graphic Rules Maker, I've tried installing your graphic rules, & yet it is still grayed out. All my other graphics are fine. I am running Windows 7.

Hello. Greetings! I have seen the great work you do and is excellent. I hope I can also help with mine (Although it is a problem I have not seen in any place)

processor: Intel® Pentium® CPU T2330 @1.60 GHz
Ram: 4,00 MG
system type: 32-bits operating system

How is the game? Most things look like mesh. Most of the objects seem paper.

@Mariajose2801

Looking at your PC Specs -
CPU: 1596Mhz, Name:GenuineIntel, FPU:1, MMX:1
Free memory: 520MB
Texture memory: 1664MB

Your CPU is too low to run the game.
Your memory is low but ok to run the game in vanilla or near vanilla.
Your texture memory is ok.

You are currently being run on low level with, anti-aliasing turned on.

Is your CPU a dual or quad core? If it is, we can do a fiddle to make it work. If it isn't then your machine isn't good enough to run Sims 2.

Before you post requesting help
Information we need

  2. Your operating System.

Sorry, that is a members only option
