Hello, I first posted this question at MTS and they said I should ask here Smile

I have installed TS2 Ultimate Collection on my new computer, which runs on Windows 10. So, I'm building up my downloads folder, downloading new defaults. I go to bodyshop to check they look okay. Problem is that their textures (patterns etc.) look way blurry. I know they're not just bad CC, I checked the preview of all the different CC and they look fine there.

I don't think the resolution is the problem, the rest of the sim looks fine. Even the maxis clothes' textures look fine.

I've got a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 graphics card, and I've tried to follow this, but I couldn't get it to work. On my computer it's in Swedish, and while I tend to manage I don't find all the right settings concerning this.

Is that how you fix this problem or do you fix it in another way?

Thanks in advance for any help.

@indiiea I'll need a config-log.txt from your game firstly to see if there's anything that needs tweaking.

Also - how do those defaults look in game? (Try them in a vanilla game so as not to muck up your regular game). If they are blurring in Bodyshop but not in-game, that's a different problem than if they're blurry in both game and Bodyshop.

@Pook I need a different log from you - if it's there. If you go into the log folder of your game play. You'll find (hopefully) a text file and a mdp file with the word 'exception' or something similiar. I don't have the stuff to look at the mdp file, but if you could attach the text file, that would be grand. It will tell me why the game thinks it needs to crash.

@danpamio Thanks! I will add that information to the first post. Smile

@wintershoulder If you are using Ultimate Collection - then no. The folders you need to put it into is

\Origin Games\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSData\Res\Config\
\Origin Games\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSData\Res\CsConfig\

@danibananib00 Sorry about the delay. I haven't been doing well, and I've only just got my new PC somewhat sorted out.

You have a very strange config-log.txt. It's the first I've ever seen like this. Basically you have 2 graphics device info sections, both for the same card.
Your config log says you have a screen resolution of 1920x1080 and you can do aliasing - i.e. apart from the 2 graphic devices glitch, the info in your config-log says it's working fine.

We're going to need to sort out what's happening here - but I suspect that setting your PC back to the previous O/S is a reasonable work-around while we do that. When you do that, you will need to reinstall the game.

@RikaNeazuma Eek! it looks like what has happened when you installed that upgrade that it lost the ability to find the graphics card.

Assuming that Windows 10 is like Windows 8 is like Windows 7 for finding out what the Update number was will help me.

So go to Control Panel
Choose 'Programs and Features'
On the far Left Hand Side there is a thing called 'View Installed Updates' - click on that.
the list is sorted by date installed.
It also may be organised by type. Scroll down until you get to Microsoft Windows updates then find the ones that you installed on the date it all went wrong.
make sure that you can see the full name of the update
Take a screen print for me and attach it.

Step 2. Uninstall that update. When you install the update for Windows 10, did you install any of the optional instalments? or just the mandatory ones?
If you can work out exactly what update you installed - clicking on it and then right-clicking on it will bring up the option to uninstall.

Come back here and attach the screen print so I can look at what updates have happened. I will then go and check on the microsoft site exactly what they've done and see if there's (a) anyway we can get around it, or (b) if we can successfully keep that part of the update uninstalled.

@autumnxsims
You've got the texture memory problem which is not fixed by the graphic rules maker unfortunately.
The first post in Sims 2 and Graphics Cards - the fixes
You need to use the one called GraphicsRules-RADEON.rar (found at the bottom of the post)
And that post will also tell you where you need to install it based on your game configuration.

@CitySkylinex
Please attach a config-log.txt - can't sort it out without that.

@Zeromoon95 I've had a bit of a look at the update and it "shouldn't" have affected sims2 as far as I can see. However. Who knows what fiddling they did.

Both your Intel and your pre-update Nvidia card have the texture memory problem - so you do need to update your graphic rules.
The first post in Sims 2 and Graphics Cards - the fixes

at the bottom of the first post, you'll find the cards.
If you intend on using Nvidia - you'll need to use the GraphicRules-NVidia-TextureFix.rar
I don't know whether this will fix it - but it's worth a try.

If it doesn't - the work around at the moment is to use your Intel card. You'll need to use
Graphics Rules-INTEL-MedCPUMissingTexture.rar
(Don't worry it won't force your game to medCPU, it will just make it work if you had med CPU, and because you have hi, it will ignore that code)

In the meantime - I'm going to be approaching NVidia, INTEL, and Radeon to see if there are any fixes that can be done or tweaked to get around this problem. When/If I find any information or solutions, I'll post it up here and on my tumblr to let people know.

OK - for all those who are still waiting - sorry, I've used up all my energy for this session.
I'm going to come back probably tomorrow or tonight and go back through the problems. So you WILL get seen to eventually.

@Pook
Thanks Pook - that was the one I wanted. it's given me some things to look at.
What it looks like has happened is that something is not working correctly, it keeps on using space until you run out, and then it tries to write where it's not allowed - at which point it crashes.

My first thought is that you've got a corrupted hack. @BoilingOil would you be able to point this simmer to some good hack cleaning up tools?

In the meantime, I'm going to do some research - because you've got a few interesting things in that exception text file, and I may or may not come up with some other solutions.

@celebkiriedhel I'll see what I can do, dear. No problem Big Grin

@Pook I've created a new topic, where I'll try to help you fix your game without obstructing Kiri's Graphics-related project here.

@celebkiriedhel The intel graphics card works fine in the current update before you posted it to me. I have also tried all the Texture Fixes for the NVidia card including the intel ones which it worked before an first Windows 10 update.

Also do you know the Manage 3d settings on NVIDIA Control Panel?
