Log 1.txt (Size: 9.47 KB / Downloads: 511) Please can someone help me? I've been playing Sims 2 UC since it was released last year without a problem. After about a week of not playing, I went to load it on Thursday and found that I'd get a black screen, then it would cut directly to the title load screen (bypassing the intro) and then crash at the 'Storing Solar Power' point. I also noticed that colour has since gone a weird greyish tone, and the resolution appears to be wrong. I've followed several confusing sets of directions from this thread and I cannot make heads or tails of things anymore. Please, please, if someone could help, I'd really really appreciate it.
These are my specs:
Computer:
Dell Optiplex GX280 Tower
AMD Radeon 5450 Graphics Card
2 GB installed Memory
4.2 Windows Experience Index
Intel ® Pentium ® 4 CPU 3.40GHz 3.39GHz
Windows 7 Home
I have reinstalled the game, and for whatever reason, there is no Config log in the folder now! There was one there and I've saved a version of an older one, whis what I'm attaching.
Thank you all in advance!

@Teru8
Your Graphics rules as they were previously - were fine.
Which operating system do you use?
The type of errors that you are getting suggest that it could be one of two things - either
a. There's been a graphics card update in the week you didn't play that has affected the way the game registers the graphics card.
b. Some data has corrupted - most likely CC.
It's fairly easy to test these hypotheses
a. Roll back your graphics driver - and see if that changes anything.
b. Open up a vanilla game and see if the same errors occur. (remember to delete the cache).

Hi celebkiriedhel, thank you for answering!! I'm using Windows 7 Home.
I've completely removed my downloads folder, I also thought it might be cc, but I'm inclined to think that it's a graphics update gone wrong. The problem is, I have no idea how to figure out which of the 10 odd updates may have affected my graphics card. I tried restoring the whole system to the August 11 restore point, but that only made the computer freak out a bit and accomplished nothing. (even chrome wouldn't load, and the game still did the same thing). I've tried running the game again since, and this is the new latest log attached. I've also added in the Graphics.sgr file just in case. I really appreciate your help!! I'm sorely tempted to get a new computer at this point :/
EDIT: I'm having an impossible time attaching files, it just keeps refreshing the post and not adding anything, so I suppose any new errors will remain a mystery.

Teru8 - my email address is celebkiriedhel#@#yahoo#.#com
Remove the # - and send me the log there. I'll have a look at it from there.

Hi Leefish and Celebkiriedhel -
Thank you both for your help - I've managed to get the game up and running again! I thought maybe upgrading to Windows 10 would fix whatever borkage Windows 7 had perpetrated on my game and for once (in a lifetime) I was right! The game loaded up fine on the first go (thank goodness, the stars, and you both for the wonderful support!)

Hi, I was wondering if you'd be able to help me get my game running pretty on my new computer. I swear I've tried everything I can find, but the Graphics Rules confuses the heck out of me, so I thought I'd turn to the "professionals". I've got Windows 8.1, and I'm running the Ultimate Collection. I have flickering graphics, if I use my mouse to move around the lot or rotate the camera, but not if I use the UI buttons. It's mostly a rectangle that shows the image of the ground through the walls and objects, but on occasion the tops of the walls flicker too. Also stuff flickers occasionally while playing, mostly if the lighting is changing (day to night or vice-versa) and sometimes when simolean amounts appear over a sims head (like when they're directed to use a crafting table). I had the black shadow problem, but used the Graphic Rules Maker to get that sorted. And I can't get my anti-aliasing to turn on. I'd live with the flicker if I had anti-aliasing, that's mainly what I'm after here. I attached my latest config-log. I did try to use the Graphics Rues Maker to sort this, but none of the options helped, and actually made it worse in one instance (having both "High Quality on Intel Graphics" and "VSync" checked at the same time) ~VP

Hey,
I hope I can still reply on this topic.
I'm a bit desperate atm. I have read a lot about you on this forum and you seem very professional with a lot of knowledge!
I'm just an 18 year old girl who knows a bit about sims tweaking and stuff. I make sims movies and put them on youtube, but now I have a problem. I use Windows 7.
About two months ago I replaced my old Graphic Card, NVidia gtx 470 with a "new" Graphic Card in my pc, The AMD Radeon R9 270x. It's secondhand from a person I know. I haven't played any Sims 2 since, but yesterday I wanted to work on
a Sims 2 series. I noticed the graffics were not as good as before. That seemed weird because I got a better Graphic Card. Then I read a lot of topics on here and tried everything. But it just seems that the
game doesn't recognize my card. The edges are jagged but the option for it isn't greyed out. I got all the settings on high and it still looks like I got it on the lowest. I took two screenshots of it.
So on highest and lowest settings it looks the same.
Things I already did:
- Used Graphic Rules Maker {Didn't work}
- Downloaded your Graphic Rules and put it in the (CS)Config folder. {Didn't work}
- Tried to add my card in the Graphic Rules Manually {Didn't work}
- Tried to add more anti-aliasing in the Graphic Card itself {Didn't work}
And maybe even more that I can't even remember.
Is it a possibility that the graphic will get better if I re-install the whole game?
Can you please help me. I've tried so much that I don't know what to do anymore.
Many thanks in advance.

@MsSimsation
There looks like there's a problem with your video card.sgr file. If you have a look at your config-log that you attached you'll notice that the name for the graphics driver and the name for the graphics database are different.
Name (driver): AMD Radeon R9 200 Series
Name (database): AMD Radeon Graphics Processor
Your picture doesn't help me as looking at it, they both look like the anti-alias is on. And the graphics looks pretty good.
OK - I will set you up a new graphics rules.sgr and video cards.sgr and see if that helps.

Thank you for responding so quick!
I have to admit that the screenshots were not that good.
In this short video you can see the difference.

Thanks for taking the time for me. So you'll send me new graphic rules.sgr and video cards.sgr here?
Or do you want to send them to my mail? MsSimsation@gmail.com
