Sims 2, Graphics and Windows 10

@JimLygdas You've done all the right things. I have vague memories of this one being a problem and fixing it with something... but I don't remember. The graphic rules is set up correctly, so that if it was working.

What I will do is give you a video cards.sgr - download here that you put in the same place as the graphic rules.

It may not be any help, but then again it may.

In the meantime, I'm going to have to track back through the original thread and see if I can find out what happened last time and how it was fixed.

@celebkiriedhel 1st of all Thank you so much for your reply but Still having the same trouble.
I don't know if that really has to be with the number of my NVIDIA card model but on purpose there are 2 820M graphic cards series I have the one with the 2GB version which have different number but still don't know if that's our main problem

By the way few minutes ago I succeed to modify it to run with the Input Intel Graphics through the Graphics Rule Maker and it worked!! Celebrate and this also done because I also modified it to run with Input Graphics over the NVIDIA Control Panel as well.

That sucks I know right Rofl

Hope there's a way to make it run over the 2ndary video card as well in the future *fingers crossed*

I know it's good to find out how to make it run at least with Intel but we all know these graphics are not enough to satisfy Tongue

@JimLygdas Ahh! I didn't realise you had dual video cards. Dual video cards cause lots of problems with Sims 2. The Intel card is more than sufficient nowadays for Sims 2 actually, so that's a pretty good alternative.

I'll keep looking for the invalid E arg error thingy, but I think that getting it to work with your Intel is a very good solution. Smile

@celebkiriedhel
Idea Found a solution Idea
FOR USERS USING A NOTEBOOK/LAPTOP WITH DUAL VIDEO CARDS
Tested on Laptop with Intel Processor&Input Graphics card along with NVIDIA video card as secondary

If you are getting errors of Direct3D and such as (while you have the latest updates) here are some steps that may fix your problem

  1. Download & Install Graphics Rules Maker
  2. Go over "Device Info" Tab and add *ONLY* the Input Video Card
  3. Go over "Video Cards" Tab and Save and replace the old .sgr file
  4. *Recommended but Optional* Go over "Settings" Tab and Force texture memory over 512 Mb
    *WARNING*
I tested over 1024 Mb but the result was that I had purple graphic issues and lag (as we all know Intel are not powerfull video cards)
  5. *Recommended but Optional* Set as Default Resolution and Maximum *ONLY* at "1024X768" as biggest preference
    *WARNING*
Tested on Higher Resolutions and didn't work (Also 1024x768 is the maximum Resolution over ingame settings)
  6. *Recommended but Optional* Select High Quality on Intel Graphics (Improves a Smooth Gameplay & Quality)
  7. Once you Finished with your Tweaks and Settings last step is to Go over "Graphics Rules" Tab and Save as and Replace the old .sgr file
  8. Hit Save File sover "Settings" Tab and once you close Graphics Rules Maker *DON'T ADD* NVIDIA in Database if it asks you to
For me when I had both of Input & secondary Video Card the Game confused my settings and couldn't run properly
  9. END Make sure that you set your Sims2EP9.exe Game file Running with Input Graphics over NVIDIA Control Panel

SmileI Hope this will Be a GREAT GUIDE for people who have a SIMILAR HARDWARESmile

Hello, everyone.
I'm new here and was wondering if maybe someone could look over my problem that I seem to be getting whenever I try to play The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection on my Compaq Presario CQ57 laptop. It's running Windows 10.

Whenever I run the game, it starts out doing okay. I noticed that I have the same problem that a lot of other people did where the game would crash whenever they would enter create a sim. My game does the same exact thing. Every time that I try to select a hairstyle it crashes. And I keep getting error message: The application has crashed. The application will now terminate.

Any answers are very much appreciated!

Hi again! I've gotten the ultimate collection pack just to try if that would fix things. It didnt. It still crashes every god damn time. I've added the Graphic Ruler Intel thingy on every expansion pack, but I've got the same problem as mentioned earlier in this forum. The expansion pack with Mansion and Garden is not where it's supposed to be. I found it under Fun With Pets- SP9-TSData-Res-UserData-Collections
It's named MansionandGarden.package and it says it's a package-file, wich I'm having trouble opening. I'll try to attach both the package and the config thingy if I find it again.

Update: It seems I can't add the Mansion and Garden package, I don't know what to do please help me.

@Miriam117 Hi Miriam you need to do the following things

1. Use Graphics Rules-INTEL.rar from the first post in this thread: http://www.leefish.nl/mybb/showthread.php?tid=5446 (the attachment is at the bottom).
2. Download this Video Cards.sgr - VideoCard-Frilly
3. Install both files in both of these folders in your program files:
\Origin Games\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSData\Res\Config\
\Origin Games\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSData\Res\CsConfig\

It will work better for you.

@ff7fan Hi FF7Fan

1. Use Graphics Rules-INTEL.rar from the first post in this thread: http://www.leefish.nl/mybb/showthread.php?tid=5446 (the attachment is at the bottom).
2. Download this Video Cards.sgr - VideoCards-Intel0106.rar
3. Install both files in both of these folders in your program files:
\EA\The Sims 2 - Mansion and Gardens\TSData\Res\Config\
\EA\The Sims 2 - Mansion and Gardens\TSData\Res\CSConfig\

That should help somewhat.

BTW - your CPU is 2095 MHz - do you have a dual, quad or octo core?
