Closed Sims 2 and Graphics Cards - the fixes.

Hi Spiky_Kitty - this is one of those times when forcing the graphic rules to be on high and anti-alias on is not fixing everything. Fortunately this is something fixable.

Go to the first post - and download this Graphic Rules file (it's attached at the end) - GraphicsRules-RADEON.rar
Install it where you have your graphic rules files.

\EA\The Sims 2 - <Mansion and Garden Stuff>\TSData\Res\Config\
\EA\The Sims 2 - <Mansion and Garden Stuff>\TSData\Res\CSConfig\

or however it's named in your game. (In my game I've changed the root directory when I installed it so I can find things easily).

You have the classic texture memory error that is stopping your reflections (and a few other things you've probably not noticed).

Thanks so much! I just went in-game and I have my pretty pools back! Only thing is now I have to figure out how to get the resolution I had back. The biggest it's offering me is 1600x900 I believe and my screen is usually 1920x1080

Can you post up your config log with the new graphic rules card? I'll see if there's another problem or if I can make it go bigger on it's own.

I actually figured out how to fix it! i went to the Graphic Rules file you had me download and I put in the right resolutions. I remembered I had to do the same thing when I installed the game on my PC! Sorry I did not update sooner. I figured it out late last night lol. Thank you so so much for the help! I actually noticed my game is running so much smoother now without any lag or long pauses, and I am loving my pretty pools!

I asked a long question and it's still not fixed (page 115). I re-installed the game but that didn't work. So the config is changed a bit so I'll send you a new one. But for some reason it says by 'name' Bodyshop, and also that the AMD Radeon R9 200 Series is not in the database. I really hope you can shine your light on this because I'm all out of options. Thanks in advance!

@MsSimsation Thanks for coming back. When I've been gone so long, it's hard to know whether the people who've post up questions while I was away will come back.

It says bodyshop, because that's the last application that you used. That's ok.

You have the texture error - so if you get the
GraphicsRules-RADEON.rar

from this thread:

and install it in the Program Folders

\EA\The Sims 2 - <your most current expansion pack>\TSData\Res\Config\
\EA\The Sims 2 - <your most current expansion pack>\TSData\Res\CSConfig\

Your most current expansion pack is Mansion and Gardens.

That will get you moving in the right direction, it will probably fix almost all your problems.
Interestingly, your previous config had a different graphics card in the video card.sgr - and this time it doesn't.

So after you've put in the new graphic rules, please load up your game, and regardless of the results can you upload another config-log.txt for me? Thanks.

Thanks for responding so quick. I tried what you said but now I got an error that it failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system. http://i.stack.imgur.com/4uI0X.png
I got this problem a long time ago aswel but I can't remeber how I fixed that. I thought I did something with the compatibillity that time but I don't want to mess with the game so much. Also the config file is all mashed up right now because of that I guess. I checked this site but that didn't work for me unfortunately. https://help.ea.com/sg/article/failed-to...r-message/

Do you have any idea how to fix that? xD Yeah were not coming much further huh?

Yeah the config does mess up because of that. That's not a worry - we have the previous one.

Try adding this card - it's the video card.sgr at the same place as you added the graphic rules.

Also - what you're thinking of is this I think?
With the setting set it back one or 2 from where you are. So for me, I have Windows 7 and will be setting it back to XP, Windows 10 sets it back to Windows 8, and Windows 8 sets it back to Windows 7. I don't know why this works, but it does.



do both of those and see what happens, then come back to me.
