@celebkiriedhel
Thank you so much! I did what you told me to do, and it really does seem to be working a lot better. Ever since, I've been able to play The Sims for a few hours without any crashes. The game did however crash only once and I got this error message.
The Sims 2 EP9 has stopped working.
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

@ff7fan There is actually more information about your crash in your log folder - there are 2 files one ending with .mdmp and one ending with .txt - I don't have the software to read the mdmp (which is a memory dump). However the .txt one is somewhat helpful.
the name looks like this - Sims2Exception 2015.10.14 23.31.34.txt
Which is basically the date and time the exception occurred. If you upload that, I may be able to point you in the right direction for fixing it.

Hi, I have had Win10 for a little while now. My Sims 2 game won't show in any screen size except 800x600 even though I have 1080p... I used to have the option to change the screen size but now there's only one option. I've included the log document as requested. I've looked everywhere for a solution to this problem. I don't even have a TSData bin anymore for some reason.
I also have a strange problem with my water not rendering at all -- it's blue squares that flicker when I move in my neighborhood. There are also black boxes under all of my sims. I have an amazing computer with really good specs and I shouldn't be having this problem. I used to play on an older computer with Win7 and never had any of these problems.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks for your time,
Lilith Snake
Edit: I changed my shadows to a lower setting and that fixed the black boxes. I changed the screen size in the log I attached to my actual screen size, saved, and restarted TS2 but nothing happened. I found this lovely post on tumblr (http://simscompletecollection.tumblr.com...sims-2-on) that explained the problems I was having and some Win8.1 solutions... but none of them worked for Win10 except the shadow/black box solution.

@lilithsnake Hi Lilithsnake, you have the texture memory problem. So you're stuck on the low resolution. Following the link you gave unfortunately will not fix it, it will just make it worse actually.
This is what you need to do to fix it
1. Use Graphics Rules-INTEL-MedCPUMissingTexture.rar from the first post in this thread: http://www.leefish.nl/mybb/showthread.php?tid=5446 (the attachment is at the bottom).
2. Download this Video Cards.sgr - VideoCards-intel-0a16.rar
3. Install both files in both of these folders in your program files (if you have Ultimate Collection):
\Origin Games\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSData\Res\Config\
\Origin Games\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSData\Res\CsConfig\

Heya. So I've been trying my best to fix the problem I'm having on my own so I don't have to bother you, but it's not working, so here I am.
I've been playing Sims 2 on Windows 10 since it launched and I've always had the flashing textures issue, and today I decided to fix it. I downloaded and ran Graphics Rules, and while it did fix that (yay!), I've now got the problem where the game won't launch in the proper resolution. I set the resolution to what I want it to be in Graphics Rules and I've downloaded and used the Graphics Rules-INTEL-MedCPUMissingTexture.rar file but it hasn't worked. If you could help me, I'd really appreciate it!
Edit: I checked the options on a whim and the screen resolution options were available again! I fixed my own problem, so ignore me.

Hi,
I've been having an issue that I've been trying to fix on my own but nothing seems to work for me. It seems as if I can't find anyone else with the same problem, either. I have updated to Windows 10 and ever since the game runs like a dream in full screen mode. I do get occasional crashes as is to be expected with a good amount of custom content installed.
But, I can't seem to get the game to run in windowed mode at all. This is where things get frustrating. I made a new short cut and changed my target path with the " -w" at the end and ran the game as usual. The regular Sims 2 loading screen works fine and eventually brings me to the neighborhood choser screen. The neighborhood loading screen works fine until it's fully loaded. Then the problem hits. Instead of bringing me to the 'hood the screen goes completely black. The game doesn't crash or anything, it's still running in the background but with nothing visible on the screen. Music still plays and everything! The only way I can get out of this is to force close the game which I hate doing because I know doing that can damage things pretty badly.
I do not get any issues like this when running the game in full screen mode. The 'hood loads and I can go to any household without any issues. This only happens in windowed mode. I have read that some people were having similar issues due to an integrated graphics card, but then I read that other people with integrated cards don't have any issues at all. I do have an integrated graphics card, AMD Radeon HD 8650. Can someone please tell me if this is an issue with my graphics card for sure or not?
Although I can still run the game in full screen mode I really would rather play it in windowed mode. But if that's not possible I'll just have to deal with full screen like I have been doing since I updated to windows 10. I have also read that using an integrated graphics card while playing graphics-demanding games like the sims can damage your computer in the long run. Am I causing long term damage to my laptop while playing the game in full screen even though it seems to run just fine?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm completely at a loss with this!

@skilynn No worries. Sometimes it just takes a little while to click in.
@Miasim Hi Mia
1. Although Sims2 is a graphic game - it is not intensive by the measurements of today. Remember Sims2 was created in 2004 for a middle range computer at that time. So running Sims 2 in full screen mode isn't going to tax your laptop with a Radeon 8650.
2. Your problem is unusual - I haven't seen it before, usually it's the other way around. I've been told tabbing out of the game and then tabbing back in for the full screen mode problem that is the same can help, and it's worth having a try to see if it helps, but otherwise I'd just stick to the full screen mode.
3. If you post up your -config-log.txt from the Logs folder in the My Documents\EA\The Sims2\ I can tell you for certain what's happening and if there's any fix I can make for it.
