can't get smooth edges to work on win8

I did everything that was told to do in the instructions from this site, and yet I still have this problem. My game glitches. My house appears and reappears when I make movements with my mouse and delete things from a lot. I can't smooth my edges because it's still unselectable. Can someone please help? I have DirectX as well. I even contacted EA for this. I have the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection. Thank you

This is what's happening:

You do not have enough graphics power to run the game like this. If you do, you can ruin your graphics chip.
You want to make sure your graphics management is loading while you boot your computer. I have Radeon graphics, and an AMD8 processor. Good combination for running Sims in Win 8.1.

If you have this combo, you can open your AMD Catalyst control panel. It can be found in your programs file, or an applet, if you don't use Classic Shell.

If you use Nvidia, there is a Gforce control panel that does the same thing.

Open your graphics control panel, look for "gaming" or "image quality" Look for "Anti Aliasing" and edge smoothing. Adjust these up to eliminate jagged edges. Do a little at a time.

Next, check for glitching. of cut scenes, and lots with swimming pools. Either deal with the glitchy cut scenes, and don't use pools, or adjust your edge smoothing down. For some reason, water in a pond, or lake doesn't cause glitches, but pools will. Be careful, running your game like this can over heat your graphics chipset in a laptop.

You can find it in your logs folder in your game.

Uh.... Ok, It worked for me, has worked for others. It was merely a suggestion, and won't hurt anything to try. Sometimes it's a computer issue, and not necessarily a Sims issue, but ok, No more advice from me.
