[split] LAG Issues - Possible Solutions
#1 13-05-2016
I guess I'm not really "lagging", but my sims walk anywhere between 3 and 20 steps, freeze, walk another (pick number of steps) freeze again. The freezes are very brief, but it's enough to make it annoying. Otherwise, it runs smooth as glass!

I also get very brief flashes when rotating the camera. That's not so annoying, but might be related to the issue.

BTW, not overheating. I'm running 42-47c during game play.

I have also done -CPUCount:1/2. Doesn't seem to make any difference.

Here is the top and bottom of my config log:

Some mismatches in info:

Computer actually has 12g/ram, soon to be 16.

Any suggestions?

BTW, I installed DirectX 9c already, and downloaded explorer suite, and followed the tutorial.

Sims ran well on the Win 8.1 system I used to have, and it runs perfectly on my Win XP system, albeit, slowly.

This is a GREAT computer, and I'd like it to run Sims2 on it without hitches.

Also, this is a clean install, no mods, no tweaks, no CC, all EP's, all "stuff" packs.

When all the above is installed (tweaks/mods/CC), it still does this. Kind of annoying.

@Kunder

First up - I need your full config log - please post it all using the following information:

The -config-log.txt from the Logs folder in the My Documents\EA\The Sims2\ Click "full editor" below to attach a text file.

Second up -

Are you running the game as admin?
Have you set the compatibility?
Are the smooth edges turned up to max?

@Kunder

You need this graphic rules.sgr - Graphic Rules - INTEL

\Program Files (x86)\EA\The Sims 2 - Mansion and Gardens\TSData\Res\Config\
\Program Files (x86)\EA\The Sims 2 - Mansion and Gardens\TSData\Res\CSConfig\
MUST BE INSTALLED IN BOTH FOLDERS

You need to put them in both. You don't mention whether you have Ultimate Collection, or DVD's - I've Assumed DVDs. If not, you need to put them in

\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSData\Res\Config\
\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSData\Res\CsConfig\
MUST BE INSTALLED IN BOTH FOLDERS

Once that is in, you should be able to change the smooth edges to max. That will also fix your lagging and stuttering.

If you can't - please upload a new config log, so I can see what's happening.

That took care of the smooth edge, and flickering, but the stuttering continues, albeit, better, but still annoying.

On second thought, don't bother, unless you want to. I traded some computer work for a new "Simming" machine. HP Pavilion Elite, with 8gb/Ram, Invidia 8600 GT video card. Loaded Sims on it today, and it runs perfectly..... VERY fast! Smile

Thank you for all your help though. It's appreciated.
