BEFORE YOU SPEND MONEY ON A NEW LAPTOP!!!

@ScaryRob, Yes, under Win7 and with a graphics card that has its own memory, I guess it's possible to run TS2 in as little as 4GB of RAM. But I'm guessing you don't have all the EPs and SPs, though, and perhaps very little -if any- custom content. Because all EPs/SPs and a lot of CC might be too much for the system to handle.

Yeah, Thanks BO! I forgot to mention that. You'll want at least 6gb/RAM MINIMUM. Eight is better, and 16+ is best.

I've always had all EPs and SPs. My CC folder is currently 860MB, mostly build items.
TS2 runs smoothly and takes less than 2 minutes to load from the time I hit 'Play'.

Rofl LOL! 860MB is nothing! My Essential/Defaults/Fixes/Mods/Hacks (etc) folder is bigger than that - and I don't consider any of that as CC. ('Cuz those are all the things that should've been coded into the game in the first place, Dodgy according to me.)
So... yeah, you can run the game easily - you're basically still running a vanilla game.
If you start adding more CC though, you may run into trouble.
Based on my experience, I'd suggest you don't go over 2GB of CC with the current RAM you have. Good luck! Big Grin

@CuriousB

Anything between, nVidia 8800, and nVidia 950/1050 (IF you're on Win7Pro), and any Radeon card in that range, will work fine, as long as you have the right, Win7 drivers for them.

@ScaryRob

Your set up is just fine, although, I'd install a couple more GB/RAM, myself.

I find that truly surprising, actually. Good on you!
But I agree with @CatherineTCJD that 860MB means nothing. My folder of hacks (no objects) is that large. If I include objects -- buiding stuff, furniture, clothing, hairs etcetera, I got quite a bit more, but not as much as many other people.
And, as @Kunder says, I would indeed add some more RAM.

But still, good that it works so well for you!

Wow, Kunder! Thanks for all the great info! I came to Leefish searching to see if my Lenovo T530 would be able to handle TS2. The ancient desktop that I've kept just to play TS2 died. I bought this T530 used/refurbished, from amazon, 11/2014. She is still going strong. I've currently got Sims 3 on here but TS2 is my fave and I'd gladly sacrifice TS3.

I notice that you don't have T530 listed. It has Intel HD 4000 Graphics Card. Here is a link to the amazon listing: https://smile.amazon.com/ThinkPad-T530-2...774&sr=8-1

Do you think T530 is up to the task?

Thank you for the info! Would a GeForce GTX 1650 be compatible with TS2 after many tweaks?
