Hello

I’m having a huge issue with my Sims 2 game constantly crashing. I’ve tried almost everything I can think of:

- I’ve done the 50/50 method with downloads, removed mods, etc.

- Tried the memory allocation fix (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0iwuLZy...&index=11)

- Added the 4GB patch

- Tested different Sims 2 versions (currently using Sims2-RPC)

I feel like I’ve tried every option, but my game keeps crashing randomly. I’m going crazy over this, so I’d really appreciate any help to make the game run smoothly without constant crashes.

Any help is appreciated Smile

So if your game’s acting up, check for any stuff running in the background. Sometimes antivirus or other apps mess with your games. Try running the game as an admin too; it might help, but no promises!

Oh, and if you’re ever looking to switch it up, I’m all about Apex Legends! It’s dope. I found this site with some sneaky apex legends cheats that made my gameplay way better. They’ve got tools to level up fast and make it more fun. If you wanna level up your game, peep the hacks.

@Glitter-fire - IF your game runs fine in a CC/Mod free environment, then it is a mod or cc (or too much of either!) ...that is causing problems.

To start a clean "vanilla" game: rename your Documents/EA Games folder (like, call it EA Games - old) and start the game. It will generate a brand new "save" folder for you.
This new folder will not have any of your cc/mods in it. No cameras, no UserStartup, no collections, etc. Use this game to make sure the program works as it should.
THEN add back in your mods and CC...
S L O W L Y.

You didn't list that you used the GRM, if you haven't you should try that.
Your log does show that the 4GB patch is working, and you are not using the DXVK-thing (which you shouldn't because you have an NVIDIA card.)

Good luck!

@CatherineTCDJ
I have used GRM so the problem dosen't lay there

Okay, so i tried running the game without anything, works fine
no problem with mods
But the problem might seem to lay with the hair cc (i think i have around 40.000 hair cc, yes i do have quite alot of cc, but its no only thing where there seems to be crashes, my game is normally used to having a very heavy cc game, so i dont think it is because it can't handle it, but maybe the hair is an issue because of the high poly count in some of them)

Yup - Sounds like a CC issue (or too much!) You'll have to do the 50/50 dance to find it.
Good luck!

hmm.. the crashes still seems to be random, sometimes it will crash in CAS other times in loading screen or even just by playing, it can't really pin point a specific issue here besides maybe having too much hair cc (the crashes seems to come sooner after i have changed their appreance in the mirror)

And another thing the thumbnails keeps flashing pink despite cleaining them often, is there way to update thumbnails without necessary deleting them?

The problem with high-poly outfits and hairs is, that if ANY sim with that outfit or hair is about to randomly walk by your lot, it can immediately cause the crash because it overloads the system. And the crash happens while the system is loading that sim, which must be done BEFORE the sim can enter the screen. So you never see which sim does this.

Really, the only way to solve problems like this, is to find the largest hair- and outfit files, and remove them from the game.
And if it's a corrupted or broken file that causes these crashes, the only way to find it, is to do the 50/50 dance.
We can talk long or short about it, but in the end just continuing to play without taking these steps simply means that the crashes keep happening.

Well the average size of my hair folder is about 500 KB, but i'll try 50/50 dance and see where it gets me

Sorry, dear, but what do you mean with 'the average size of my hair folder'?

In a folder of 10 million files, only ONE file needs to be broken to stop the game from playing normally. it doesn't matter that all those other 9,999,999 files are good.
That's why you're doing the 50/50 dance, to find that one file, right?

But now imagine that there is no corrupted file, but it's some high-poly hair that causes the problem...
You could have 100,000 files of 300 KB and 40 files of 500 MB, the total folder size is 50 GB, and the average filesize would still be under 500 KB.
But only ONE sim needs to walk by with one of those fourty 500 MB hairs, and your game crashes. So, really, average means absolutely nothing. We're talking about the ACTUAL file sizes.

The creators of such custom hairs usually say nothing about the file-size, but they LOVE LOVE LOVE to BRAG BRAG BRAG about how many polygons their product has. The ones with the most polygons, however, are usually also the largest files. So, you really need to look for the hairs with the highest poly counts, and thus for the largest hair files. If you throw those out, the problem might be solved WITHOUT the need for this very time-consuming tedious 50/50 hack dance.

Good luck.
